    Our Favourite Nut Butter Brands

Published: Jan 26, 2020 · Modified: May 16, 2022 by Vanessa Sturman · This post may contain affiliate links · This blog generates income via ads · 1 Comment

I've had the best day this week; National Peanut Butter Day! Yet another excuse for me to eat and celebrate one of my favourite foods. Now, I am a fan of ALL nut butters (not just peanut butter) and there are some businesses out there doing incredible things will all types of nuts. So I have put together The Ultimate Six Favourite Nut Butter Brands to celebrate this truly magical day!

All these brands are innovative, high quality and care for the environment and the health of their customers. They are DELICIOUS, but also vegan, gluten free and palm oil free.

All products in this post are gifted, but the views are completely my own from sitting and eating these delicious products!

Heads up! This post contains affiliate links which are always indicated, but we only endorse brands and products we really love. We'll earn a little commission from qualifying purchases. This keeps us creating vegelicious content 🙂

    Jake’s Boost

A partnership by a lovely couple and their dog Jake, who wanted to bring their love of hiking and the outdoors to their products. Jake’s Boost are certified organic nut and seed butters, all with unique flavours, are super filling and energising, and 5% of all profits going to charity! Hooray!

What we love is the array of ingredients in each jar. Their banana boost, which is perfect to top my Superfood, High Protein Breakfast, is made up of peanuts, banana and the yummiest seeds (sunflower, chia, pumpkin, hemp and linseed). If you’re looking for a chocolatey hit, my go-to is their Cacao Boost with cacao nibs and chia seeds.

    Norty

My friend, Elspeth, makes these pots of simply delicious, morish, and fun nut butters. She trained as a chef and is focused on making products that are great for health and the environment, using the best ingredients. Norty nut butters have a range of flavours from sweet and savoury, as well as just plain. I always feel spoilt for choice, so I just get one of each and indulge!

So the sweet ones; my favourites have got to be the Chocolate Hazelnut which tastes like nutella, and the Coffee and Chocolate which is a match made in heaven with real grains of coffee inside.

The savoury ones blew me away, especially the Smokey Maple Bacon which I dollop on stir fry, on savoury pancakes or cook with in a bean stew. There’s also a chili peanut one that has become a staple for my savoury cooking!

    Biona

We had to include Biona. The truth? I use their smooth peanut butter every day, either on my breakfast, on fruit or on toast.

Their high quality nut butters are perfect as a healthy, pure and delicious staple for all my food and cooking. They have nut butters of almost all kinds; cashew, hazelnut, almond, peanut, even a special peanut and chili if you fancy it (perfect for cooking stews). Louise enjoyed using their super smooth peanut butter in her peanut satay dish.

Why else do we love them? They are run by people who genuinely care for food quality and organic produce, they source everything ethically and make all their products from 100% renewable energy. They are available in almost all healthfood stores, Whole Foods Markets, Planet Organic, Ocado, their online shop and Amazon. (affiliate link).

    Nutcessity

Started (and running fully) by Mike, this insanely good peanut-free brand of nut butters caught my eye (and tastebuds) with its beautifully paired flavours. Mike started the company as he is allergic to peanuts, and wanted to do something really innovative with other nuts; a great success in my opinion. Gingerbread and Almond is probably the one I keep going back for; it literally tastes like spiced gingerbread. Nutcessity’s Date and Walnut flavour also tops the list with the natural sweetness of date, mirroring the eating of dates with walnuts.

All the spreads are organic, made in small batches and have no added oil or sugar. Available in some healthfood stores and from Nutcessity's online shop.

    Mindful Bites

I fell in love. I couldn’t help it. When I met Stefanie and her Mindful Bites spreads, I loved her purpose to combine indulgent taste with health and superfoods, as well as sustainable sourcing. The smoothness of the Cashew Nut and Baobab is so moreish, and Brazil Nut with cacao nibs and lucuma satisfies that chocolate craving (which is a regular thing for me!). Other flavours feature Maca and Berries. They are incredible natural energy boosters, but with that indulgent nut buttery taste.

You don’t just have to try one flavour; thank goodness you can buy all four, and we love that this is ready packaged for any occasion. The one below is for Valentine’s Day; so look no further for the perfect gift.

Available from a range of places: their online shop, healthfood stores and Amazon. (affiliate link).

    Nifty Nut Butters

This brand wins the prize for most versatile and innovative for cooking. This doesn’t mean I don’t just eat them straight out the jar though (this might have happened with the Cookies and Cream one!). Made in the Cotswolds by Alex, Nifty Nut Butters started as a hobby then became a full time business. I can’t get over the imagination put into the flavours.

The best ones for cooking include Cajun Spice and Spicy Thai Peanut, as well as the Cheezy Cashew which is amazing in pasta sauces (or just on toast!). Then if you’re in the mood for sweet, you won’t be able to resist the Cherry Bakewell Almond and the Belgium Chocolate Brazil. Nifty also does plain ones, so ALL your nutty buttery needs are taken care of!Cheesy and Tasty Nifty Nut Butter on Toast with some tomatoes
