As it’s been a long & (sometimes) hot summer, we thought it was only right to do a roundup of the Best Vegan Summer and BBQ Dishes, for dinner parties, BBQs and picnics. These BBQ items, dips, salads and desserts are all crowd-pleasers, seasonal, and perfect for the warm weather.
If you don't feel like cooking on a lazy summer afternoon, there are some amazing healthy frozen ready meals you can get delivered. The best one I've found is All Plants (affiliate link). While we're affiliates of them, I have become a genuine customer, and make sure I have a few in my freezer; if I don't feel like cooking, I want to make sure I'm having something healthy, substantial and delicious.
I've divided these lovely vegan BBQ dishes and summer dishes into:

Vegan BBQ Dishes
Ultimate Vegan Blackbean & Mushroom Seitan Burger
Can never have too many burger recipes for those vegan BBQ dishes. This one is the Ultimate vegan ‘Meaty’ dish and wins over even those who think vegan food is boring! Seitan (affiliate link) is the magic ingredient. With any burger, you can make double the mixture and freeze some for the next BBQ!
A great one for salads or just as another one of your vegan BBQ dishes. This is super easy to make by marinating tofu with some simple ingredients.
Jamaican Jerk Jackfruit with Rice and Peas
You can cook your own version of traditional carnival food! I love vegan BBQ dishes from my Caribbean roots. Our biggest crowd-pleaser is our Jamaican Jerk Jackfruit with Rice and Peas. You can use the jerk marinade on cauliflower and tofu too. Bonus if you fry up some plantain with it!
Amazing BBQ-able bean burger - totally flippable and holds together
BBQ vegan items should be filling, flavourful, and certainly never fall apart. These vegan burgers have a great texture and withstand flipping! They are packed full of protein from the beans - use whatever you have in your cupboard (like chickpeas), but we love black beans in these ones!
If you’re looking for the best sauce to go on the burgers, our favourites are by Eaten Alive, who ferment their products; the Chocolate BBQ one (affiliate link) is to die for!
Vegan Summer Dips
Summer means Courgette Everything; Louise has such an abundance from her garden she gives me ‘Mandatory Courgettes’ every year! Luckily, there are so many delicious vegan BBQ dishes that can be made from these, including Courgette Babaganoush. You can even char your courgettes on a BBQ first for a super smokey flavour.
Miso & Rosemary White Bean Dip
Summer is not summer without a vegan BBQ dip. We love bean dips of all types; so much more you can make than traditional chickpea hummus (delicious as it is). This dip has a great umami (savoury) taste from the miso, and the combination of white beans and rosemary is so summery!
Vegan Summer Desserts
Salted Caramel and Chocolate Pots
While chocolate isn’t always the obvious go-to in summer, I will always find a way to have my post vegan BBQ treat... chilled chocolate dessert?! Remember those rolo desserts we had as kids? This tastes just like it. It’s easy-peasy to put together using melted chocolate, coconut milk, and the best bit - sea salt. No one will believe it’s vegan!
It would be wrong not to include one of our most popular recipes, which has summer written all over it. Everyone has gone mad for these scones with homemade vegan clotted cream. The ultimate summer indulgence! Question is, do you have cream or jam on top?! Discuss….
I couldn’t resist adding another dessert to this round-up. There’s nothing that says British summer more than an Eton Mess. The meringue recipe is easy (and you can use the meringues for other dishes) and it’s made from aquafaba (chickpea water).
Vegan BBQ and Summer Salads
Smokey Aubergine & Tabbouleh Salad
A perfect vegan BBQ dish where you can chargrill the aubergines on the BBQ itself if you want. The salad is finished off with a delicious tahini sauce dressing.
Grilled Courgette, White Bean & Salsa Verde
You have to have vegan BBQ dishes to go on the side of your vegan burgers! Courgette is a quintessential summer vegetable. For this dish, you can grill the courgettes in the oven or on the BBQ. The butter beans add extra protein, and salsa is packed full of summery fresh herbs.
Chargrilled Chopped Corn, Tomato & Herb Salad
Another side you where you can use the BBQ to chargrill the veg first! Love that smokey flavour. This salad is fresh and colourful; the perfect accompaniment to any mains in your vegan BBQ or summer dinner party.
Summer Potato, Pea & Dill Salad
We’re big fans of fresh herbs here at The Vegan Larder, so you’ll find them in pretty much all our vegan BBQ dishes and salads. We’re also fans of carbs, so if you invite us to a BBQ, you’ll likely find us bringing this potato salad (among other goodies).
So there are our favourite vegan BBQ dishes and summer foods. They’ll serve you well for BBQs, parties, chilled evenings, birthdays and picnics. If you liked this roundup, you may love:
