As self-proclaimed food lovers, we feel that seasonal and plant-based eating as a combination needed to have the 'scary' removed and the fun and playfulness put back in.
Now is the best time to be exploring the wonders and benefits of plant-based seasonal eating, wherever you are and whatever your lifestyle - it's not just for those who grow vegetables, have access to farmers' markets or have lots of free time. Oh, to answer your question - no prior knowledge of seasonal eating is necessary!
The benefits to eating seasonally for yourself and the earth are bountiful (see what we did there?). First, what you'll be eating will be much more flavourful as it's less travelled. Since it isn't coming from very far, you're contributing to fewer CO2 emissions, which is not the case for international produce. You'll get more vitamins and minerals with fresh fruits and vegetables, when frozen or stored, produce begins to lose its nutritional value. You'll be supporting your local economy and helping your body through seasonal changes. For example, watermelon and berries are great for protecting us from the sun as they're rich in hydrating water and beta-carotenes.
Take a look at our most delicious seasonal recipes we've enjoyed cooking for our family and friends. They were made to help you discover how fab in season eating can be not only in terms of taste, health and the environment, but also budgeting.
Once you've prepared one or two, please rate them. We'd love to get your feedback.
