We’re often asked “What do you have for breakfast as a vegan?” Well, vegan breakfasts are much easier, filling and delicious than you think. You may be used to eggs or cereal, which we have great alternatives for, but we also have many other great vegan breakfast ideas and recipes! So here are our Vegan Breakfast Ideas and Recipes to give you a delicous variety of morning meals.
🌿Super simple vegan breakfast ideas
Sometimes we just want something very simple, with no recipe required. These are our top simple vegan breakfast ideas:
- Vegan cereal with vegan milk - many cereals are vegan, but if you want to avoid a super sugary one, try something like a vegan museli
- Bowl of fresh fruit - just chop up all your favourite fruits
- Smoothie - I make a vegetable and fruit smoothie every day, which is filling and healthy (it's mostly vegetables such as kale, plus one banana for sweetness). Top tip - chuck a handle of nuts or seeds on your cereal or bowl of fresh fruit for extra protein and good fats!
Many of us will have eaten scrambled eggs on multiple occasions. It’s easily veganised with tofu (best made with silken tofu), so it had to come at the top of my vegan breakfast ideas. It’s a quick and easy breakfast, and packed full of vegan protein. You can even add extra spices for some fun flavours, like smoked paprika and cumin for a Mexican-themed vegan breakfast.
If you want to go mad, how about this for a vegan breakfast idea; have a full Vegan English Breakfast or Fry Up by adding baked beans, fake vegan meats like vegan sausages (we even have our own sausage recipe), vegan bacon and hash brown to your tofu scramble. I literally swear by this Vegan High Protein Powerbowl as my most regularly eaten vegan breakfast recipe (along with my smoothie). It’s packed full of vegan protein from the chia seeds, nut butter, quinoa and seeds. It has lots of filling good fats from the nuts and nut butter, tones of fibre and natural sweetness from the fruit. It’s jammed with flavour whether you choose to add cacao, cinnamon, maca or anything else.
Many eateries have hooked onto vegan breakfast ideas like this, as you'll often find nut and oat dish served as a vegan option at cafes. However, mine is much cheaper to make and I prefer to have a cooked breakfast when I eat out!
I batch cook enough of the base mix to last me a month, and store in my freezer in separate containers. So each day I just top with a bit with fruit, yoghurt and nut butter. Keeps me full for hours!
Back on the vegan egg substitutes for our vegan breakfast ideas! Frittata is a delicious savoury, gluten free vegan breakfast (but also great for picnics and other meals - so versatile). Made with a base of silken tofu and gram / chickpea flour, it firms up nicely in the oven (we love Clearspring silken tofu). You can mix with whatever vegetables you have available e.g. sun-dried tomatoes, peppers, courgettes, so they’re great for reducing food waste. Perfect for the weekends or entertaining, vegan pancakes are an easy vegan breakfast recipe, where we have several ideas! One of our favourites for Autumn / Fall (but suitable anytime of year as you can just use tinned/canned pumpkin puree) are these fluffy & flavourful Vegan Pumpkin Pancakes with Facon and Maple Syrup (which are also gluten free). Topped with facon, or vegan bacon, and maple syrup; they are the ultimate North American flavour contrast. Either buy vegan bacon (there are some incredible brands out there) or make your own - Louise's Tofu Facon is divine!
You can also roll pancakes up and fill with garlicky mushrooms and cream cheese. Or choose another filling of your choice for your own vegan breakfast recipe!

One of my greatest vegan breakfast recipes! Vegan omelette is easy, gluten free and soy free, made mostly of gram / chickpea flour. I often just made a basic omelette then fill it with whatever takes my fancy on the day like sauteed mushrooms or Smoked Vegan Bacon, Apple, Thyme and Melty Vegan Cheese!
A classic when it comes to vegan breakfast ideas! Something that was mostly always vegan the whole time, but we're taking this as a vegan breakfast idea anyway! This is a great, high-protein and high fibre vegan breakfast idea. You can of course buy traditional tinned/canned baked beans, but we love our healthy refined-sugar-free version! They will freeze well and are great for vegan picnics. Indulge even more and get in more vegan protein and those good fats by spreading one with nut butter.
